They want democracy in India but theocracy in Saudi Arabia.
They want secularism in Israel but brutal Islamism in Pakistan.
They want Constitution as long as it allows them to practice Sharia.
They want EU to take in a million more refugees but are okay when Saudi Arabia turns them down.
They want Israel to cease to exist but are okay with Saudis butchering Yemenis.
They condemn minority witch hunt in the name of love jihad but cry buckets when Tunisian govt allows Muslim women to marry non-Muslim men.
Sorry but no kind of left unity or any unity is possible with such MuSanghis who are nothing but fascists waiting for their turn.
Afterall secularism can’t be a one-way traffic.
And the fact that left, liberal and progressive forces have collaborated with them is the reason why RSS and Hindu fascists were able to successfully vilify the word secularism and turn it into a laughing stock.
The thing about majoritarianism and communal fascism is that it gives no fuck about how many Kurds are being persecuted in Iran, Iraq or Turkey or how many Yemenis are being butchered by Saudi Arabia or how many Dalits and aboriginals are massacred by the Brahmanists or how many Shias and Ahmadiyyas are targeted by Sunnis in Pakistan or even how many refugees fleeing from ISIS have been turned down by Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
It’s so-called humanitarian sentiments are stirred only and only when the Christian majority west invades some Islamist nation of Middle East or when Burmese deem Rohingyas stateless or when some Muslim man marries a Dalit girl or when some Islamist terrorist attack some temple/hotel or when Jews steal Palestinian lands or when army kills some militant in Kashmir and of course when EU fails to accommodate enough refugees even after sheltering millions before.
The working principle of this ideology is simple: Please allow us to quietly cleanse our kind of all impurities but if someone of other race/religion does to our people what we are already doing to them, it’s an assault on our community.
A fanatic extremist is just someone who has taken his religion a bit too seriously and follows his doctrine word by word.So apparently ISIS, KKK, and RSS are the doing nothing but following their religion a bit better than the ones who remain a pacifist.
Because coexistence and tolerance are human values not religious. Has Christianity said that since Islam teaches the same thing you’re free to convert and vice versa? Or where has Islam said to go live with atheists? Or has Hinduism ever said not to be casteist assholes and practice inter caste marriages?
People are liberal and tolerant only because they don’t take their religion too seriously.
In case of disagreement just investigate that which religion asks to peacefully coexist with people of other faith or suggest that other religions also teach the same thing and are the paths to the same God AND where?
For a third world nation like India that has yet to accept its caste question, accepting xenophobia and race problem is obviously a distant dream.
Basically, this land never had any problem:
It never had any caste problem but Gandhi always remained a Baniya and Shivaji a Maratha.
It never had a race problem but somehow this entire brown country believes in quackery of fairness creams claiming to magically transform brown skin into white.
It never had a gender problem although we still have to acknowledge marital rapes and the question of honor killing.
It never had the problem of homophobia but homosexuality is criminalized.
It never had a problem of xenophobia but you can be assaulted in Bombay for simply being a North India and in Delhi for being a Northeastern.
So most probably the only pressing concern for this nation is beef and Romeo!
Ground check: Few enlightening thoughts I learned from my colleagues yesterday-
• ‘So what’ if Yogi is a goon at least he’s not corrupt.
• We have had enough with secularism, now it’s the time for Hindus to shine.
• Why can’t sth as simple as beef be banned when ‘other nations’ have far worse kinda bans/restrictions.
In short: everything is fine as long as the ‘others’ have to sacrifice their rights for the gratification of our communal ego.
This conversation could be taken as another example of post-truth era where facts do not matter because:
• Noone remembers which public office Yogi held earlier to prove himself an honest public servant.
• The idea of India secularism that prevents the ‘others’ from being made second class citizens is the real pain in the ass of these moderate Hindus.
• When it comes to justifying the culture of bans and prohibitions the ‘others nation’ they cite are obviously never the first world nations or even the second world nations but usually failed states like Somalia, Sudan and Pakistan.
I guess it’s the indication of a sick society that dreams of becoming the next superpower but wants its human rights to be just compatible with Pakistan and Iran.
Most common Savarna reaction every time they hear of Dalit atrocities:
1. Stop calling them dalits, we are all humans.
2. Scrap affirmative action and everything will be okay.
Why they do so:
1. They want caste apartheid to continue in silence and remain unacknowledged.
2. They hate the idea of social justice and equality.
“We Bosnian soldiers actually enjoy more freedom that an average American; we can take whatever we like, we can kill whomever we hate and we can rape any women whom we find attractive. We can do it because we are fighting for nationalist cause.”
A Bosnian soldier told this to Salvoj Zizek during the Bosnian war.
I guess we lived in a post truth era even during the early 90’s when Bosnian war was on its full swing when emotions were more relevant than truth itself.
Can’t we see a similar environment back here in India? Where a 20 year old girl is threatened with rape for having an opinion and the ‘veterans’ who came out in her support are being deemed anti-nationals by people who did nothing for the country except supporting a party that’s in bed with ISI.
But they can do it because they claim to be nationalists. They can do it because facts mean nothing in the presence of sentiments. Because we live in a post truth era.
